SDW Automotive

Web Design and Development

Project Summary

SDW Automotive website was not responsive therefore my aim was to meet the business needs by using a Wordpress site and wanted the website to be responsive across all devices and some custom styling applying to the page. This included new logo branding, banners and making the design more crisp and bright and more of a structure.

Project Brief

Shain at SDW Automotive requested a modern, clean design that looked great on all devices. Competition in the automotive industry is high so it is essential to make a great first impression and keep pushing good quality standards.

Steps taken

1. Discuss with client and make note of all requirements

2. Mock up drawings of a new logo branding using the colour scheme details provided.

3. Redesign each of the current pages in adobe XD for the layout changes.

4. Walkthrough meeting with client to show the mock up designs.

5. Web Development then carried forward within Wordpress using the mock ups.

6. Handover new Web Design and Development to the client.

New services design

The Process

I opted for a clean and simple logo one that i thought worked well with the bright colour scheme of SDW Automotive, these colours were simply red, blue and silver and the spanner was to initiate the industry. This approach was also mirrored into the Website Design itself choosing a blue banner image with a blue car as the stand out, a white background where all the content is to sit so that all text and content is clear.

The main process was migrating the site from a standard HTML website to one that is managed by WordPress. Over time this will save both time and money for SDW Automotive and also allow me to provide a much better service in the long term.

One of the tasks was to publicise the companies new services i.e. remapping, wider range of diagnostics etc. I completed this by creating a grid layout with a visual image and a short description for the customers to understand. The other area that SDW didn't have was a contact form where customers can fill out a form and request quotes, previously it was just an email link that the user would then need to document themselves. Therefore a new contact form was created along with a google map, opening hours, address and other contact details.
